We've finally arrived to the big question - can you help my acne? Unfortunately, the answer is yes and no. Topically, I can (and will) do everything possible to ensure that your skin is in the healthiest condition possible. The rest is up to you.
For example, my friend has an intolerance to dairy. When he abstains, his skin is clear and healthy. Ice cream is his kryptonite, so when he does indulge, his digestive system rebels and the evidence is all over his skin. As long as he continues to consume dairy, he's going to continue the fight with his acne. Our skin is a powerful tool in looking at our overall health. Breakouts can be caused from stress, hormones, pollution, dietary intolerance, personal habits, and the list goes on. When we see these blemishes appear, it is usually because something isn't quite right in our body. If we can identify the source, then we can change the habit and reap the benefits. If we are unwilling to change, then our skin will continue to rebel. As with any acne procedure, facials will not act as a quick fix. Have you heard the saying "Great skin doesn't happen by chance, it happens by appointment"? There is a lot of truth there. You will not see amazing results after just one treatment. Just like any other acne medication or regimen, seeing results from facials will take time and commitment. To yield the maximum benefit, you need to be consistent with your skin care routine, at home and professionally. If it's not guaranteed and it's not quick, why should you even bother with a facial for acne prone skin? Because estheticians are trained to look for and deal with complex skin concerns which can be kept under control through regularly scheduled treatments. During the facial, I will use steam, exfoliation, high frequency, and a powerful mask to reduce surface oil, remove dead skin cells, soothe, and hydrate (if necessary). Afterward, I can also recommend an at home regimen that won't aggravate your acne. Monthly scheduled facials improve the skin's health to not only reduce acne, but improve the skin's allover health. Our skin is our first line of defense against so many elements. Due to this constant state of protection, our skin can feel dry, tired, and in need of a little extra care to maintain a healthy state. Facials can provide this care as well as asses the skin and diagnose any issues that may arise. Regular maintenance is important for keeping our barrier in good health.
