It's Exercise - For Your Face!

Picture
Our facial muscles require exercise to remain toned, just like the rest of our body. Unfortunately, traditional facial exercises like tensing our muscles into certain facial expressions to strengthen, tend to not only provide little results, but actually increase wrinkles.
Laugh lines, crow's feet, and forehead wrinkles are all a result of us using our facial muscles, so these exercises actually encourage deeper wrinkles, not smooth our skin.

So, if not exercise, what can we do to tone our facial muscles? Massage! Stimulating our facial muscles in a relaxed state is the most beneficial for maintaining muscle tone. That blissful point during most facial treatments when we find ourselves drifting off is still reaping numerous benefits, including increasing muscle tone, even though we are thoroughly relaxed. When our facial muscles tense, they are more likely to intensify wrinkles, which is why regular massage is ideal.

As mentioned in my previous post, massage also promotes circulation. Just like our shoulders and back benefit from stress relief through massage, our facial muscles require the same care. Massaging the soft lines around our mouth, eyes, and brows  increases the flow of blood and oxygen and can relieve the tension from using those muscles regularly. It can also increase collagen production which gives our complexion a healthy, natural glow.

All of our facial expressions - our anger, our joy, our sadness, our stress - are imprinted on our face. Thinking about how much we use our facial muscles during the day - they do deserve a good massage! My Custom Organic Facial and Aromatherapy Facial incorporate a full facial massage that will tone those muscles while you relax!
